SORCAR' S HINDOO WANDS The
feat of the ‘Hindoo Wands’ is world famous. In it the magician takes
two wands in his hands. Both the wands have long strings passing through a
hole at the upper part. There are tassels at the end of the strings. As
the magician pulls one string, the other shortens, though there are no
connection between them. As a rule this is done by leaden weights which
automatically pull the threads inside the hollow wands. With this type,
the wands are to be held straight (horizontal) for making the strings
long. Otherwise held (vertical or in an inclined position), this is an
impossibility. I have invented the new way of doing the item which I have named Sorcar’s Hindoo Wands. It is my original and I have successfully done it. The other day as I performing this act with my magic wands, many of the Indian magicians were praising me seeing my great dexterity for the manipulation of the Hindu Wands. They were struck to see how the act was possible, when the strings were either short or long at pleasure, regardless of whether I kept the wands horizontal or vertical. My brother Magi did not know that my method was off the beaten path, thanks to my elastic cord or spring that pulls the string coming around the pulley at the bottom end of the wand (see sketch). There is a portion of the pulley, a bit protruded at the bottom (see sketch). This is necessary because the thread might be pulled out by hand, but the fleshy part of the palm can press that protruded portion and stop the pull of the thread by pressing both the pulley and the string very hard. By slackening the hold the thread can be made short. The operation by practice will appear to be very easy and much easier than the time old process. The sketches will make everything very clear. And you can build this wand yourself at a minimum cost. A nice variation, is it not ? |
